Welcome to Positano

The Jewel of the Amalfi Coast

The picturesque Italian getaway of Positano lies nestled against the rugged cliffs at the foot of the Lattari Mountains on the Amalfi coastline.

Positano is simply one of the most charming, colourful little villages of this region - quaint, magical, lost in time. Overlooking some of the most unspoilt seas, its brightly coloured houses speckle the hillsides like a handful of confetti amongst the lush green vegetation of the Mediterranean. The warmth and spirit of Italian hospitality, for which the people here are so renowned, will sweep you away from the hustle of modern living and into a bygone era.

The narrow, cobbled roads and alleys of Positano tempt the explorer into a host of curious little shops and restaurants. Down at the water’s edge you will find a small, stoney beach dotted with umbrellas and sunbathers. Further out, the coloured boats of the local fisherman bob idly to the gentle swell of the sea against the backdrop of three small isles, called ‘Li Galli’ or ‘Sirenuse’, where mermaids are still said to live in secret.

It’s no wonder John Steinbeck once wrote of Positano:

"It is a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone."

Today the Amalfi Coast is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and Positano attracts thousands of tourists every year to its open arms, fabulous local cuisine and old-world simplicity of life.
